Checking In and Out

In order to allow housekeeping ample time to properly sanitize and prepare each suite correctly for arrivals, standard check-in time begins at 3:00 pm. We shall make every attempt to accommodate special requests for early check-ins. Please allow an extra 15 minutes in your schedule to ensure accuracy at check-in. You may expedite the check-in process by making sure your vaccinations are up-to-date and on file and by completing check-in guest forms ahead of time.


In order to allow housekeeping ample time to properly sanitize and prepare each suite for its’ next guest, check-out time is by 12:00 pm (Monday through Saturday) and by 3 pm (on Sunday), unless pet is scheduled for a bathing or Day Camp service on the day of departure. For security purposes, proper photo identification may be required before pet may be released.


The Barkley provides 24-hour care and supervision for all pet guests, however, due to security and accuracy considerations, we regret we cannot accommodate check-ins or check-outs during non-business hours.  Clients in need of special circumstances may request after hour pick-up or delivery services.


As recommended by our veterinary advisors, we feed a high-quality dry kibble house cuisine.  Clients may choose to supply their own food so long as each meal’s serving size is prepared in a separate baggie and labeled clearly with the pet’s first and last name for the entire length of the stay. Due to the specific nutritional demands of puppies and felines, it is recommended these pets have their diets provided from home. We do offer special puppy programs to focus on their growing needs. We feed twice daily. Extraordinary preparations and/or additional feedings can be accommodated.  In the event your supply of food runs short and needs replenished, a service fee may be charged in addition to the cost of the product in need.


The Barkley will provide a qualified staff member to administer oral and/or topical medications. Guests requiring specialized care are handled on a case-by-case basis.  All medications must be provided by owner, clearly labeled and include written instructions with pet’s name, type of medication, reason for medication, dosage, and administration schedule.


Due to the safety and sanitary limitations of our controlled environment, we regret we cannot accept any personal belongings (toys, beds, blankets, etc.) other than a disposable t-shirt (for separation anxiety). The Barkley is a full-service establishment and provides all the clean bedding, toys and blankets necessary to comfort your pet while in our care.


In the best interest of all, each guest must meet our published vaccinations standards before admittance. Pets requiring vaccination updates must have the vaccination(s) administered no less than ten days before check in. The Barkley reserves the right to refuse admittance to any pet guest for any reason, at any time, who lacks proof of vaccinations, displays signs of untreated or potentially contagious conditions, demonstrates aggressive behavior, or who fails our standard health and temperament policies.

Special Needs/Medical Treatment

We accommodate most special needs and are just 1 mile from 24-hour emergency medical care.

Controlled Travel

For each pet’s safety, ALL pets entering and exiting The Barkley must be on a leash or in a carrier until directed otherwise. The Barkley provides customized identification collars upon arrival, therefore, all carriers, leashes, collars and harnesses will be returned to owner upon check-in.


At The Barkley, our pet guests are also on vacation. Visitation during boarding is both confusing and interruptive for our pet guests, and therefore, is highly discouraged.

Exercise and activity programs are available as ala carte options to enhance all stays.

Day Spa Service Selections

At the Barkley, our fun-filled atmosphere allows pets to share common areas while playing and exercising. And, even with some of the highest sanitation standards in the industry (all areas are cleaned, disinfected, rinsed and dried several times daily), this interaction (especially if weather conditions are humid or rainy) may still alter your pet’s natural scent. Therefore, we offer discounted bathing services to all overnight guests and highly recommend that each pet be bathed prior to departure. We find that pets love the attention and pampering they receive while being serviced, as well as the extra attention they get at home when they are clean, look great and smell good. Full Grooming Salon and Spa Treatments are available as well.


We offer trans”paw”tation pick-up and delivery services 7 days per week.

New Clients

The health and safety of our guests is our #1 priority. Therefore, new clients are required to complete an Overnight Guest Profile Form completed prior to their first stay. This permanent profile helps us understand your pet’s background, personality and special needs so we can make his/her visit at The Barkley as safe and as comfortable as possible. In addition, to ensure accuracy, each client must complete a check-in menu and a grooming menu (if grooming) for each stay.
